About The Program

: This position provides needed support to units within the Independence Police Department and provides a clear pathway to a law enforcement career.  Duties are performed on a rotational basis through various units of the Independence Police Department.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicant must be between 18 and 20 years of age to apply and cannot exceed their 21st birthday as a Cadet unless actively waiting for a Law Enforcement Academy class to begin.  Applicant must have an interest in a career in law enforcement.  Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license by date of application, a good driving record, pass a comprehensive written exam, physical agility test, oral board interview, polygraph exam, psychological evaluation, undergo an extensive background investigation with ability to render credible testimony in a court of law, pass a medical exam and drug screen.
